Note: August is NOT too early to be reading holiday season books! :D
Stella runs a Christmas tree farm. It might seem like a magical and fun job, but between racoon invasions, missing packages, and finances, things aren't looking so festive. Stella needs help (and money) to turn around the farm, either that or a famous travel influencer named Evelyn coming to feature her farm with a lovely bonus of a possible cash prize. There's just one little problem...Stella runs her farm with her boyfriend, or so Evelyn thinks. Only, Stella doesn't have a boyfriend. In comes best friend (definitely not something more) Luka Peters. He agrees to be her fake boyfriend for a little bit, to show Evelyn how romantic the farm is, but with meddling friends, a very gossip-y small town, and lots of so much more than best friend feelings, fake dating can't really turn into real dating...can it?
This is such a popular book, I don't know why I didn't discover it before! It takes place during the holiday season (Halloween, Thanksgiving, and mainly Christmas) and has so many fun tropes - friends to lovers, fake dating, small town charm, and it takes place on a Christmas tree farm! It's such a cozy, sweet read.
But because fake dating and friends to lovers were the main tropes, it took SO long for Stella and Luka to finally acknowledge their feelings for the other and start real dating. And even though I knew to expect that, it was still a little surprising that even after Luka pretty much admitted his love for her, Stella still couldn't believe it. She had to watch a video that someone else filmed of the two of them (albeit a very cute one) for her to realize that Luka did, in fact, love her. I mean, the whole town knows and still it took her (and them) so long!
Back to things I liked, the side characters were all so fun and humorous, and I'm so glad that many of them are getting their own books too. I can't wait to read the rest of this series!
Final thoughts: 4 stars for the fun festivity and cuteness of Lovelight Farms!
