In Clara’s eyes, the best way to describe Prince Raleigh of Rostenburg is a monster, which is why her forced marriage to him is like her worst nightmare come to life. Her desperation to escape the arrangement forces the prince to offer her a deal: heal him of his curse and be free, or fail and become his wife for eternity. With the clock ticking, her frustration growing, and an increasing number of questions arising that remain unanswered, Clara will have to decide what to do, and what side of the deal to take, even as her own feelings get increasingly muddled on the matter.

Beauty and the Beast is one of my all time favorite tales, so I love books that reimagine it. Vow of Eternal Night struck the perfect balance between drawing inspiration from a classic while still creating a story that feels original.

Despite having some situations and secrets that felt a little avoidable or just begged for more communication, the book was an enjoyable read from start to finish, in large part due to the beautiful fantasy, gothic feel, and well done word-building. The romance was for sure my favorite part, an enemies-to-lovers and slow-burn that kept me turning the page.
