This book is such a delightful read!
⤷ Synopsis:
Briggs and Blythe are childhood nemeses. They weren’t always that way, but after that prank at a ball years ago, there’s been nothing but mutual dislike since. Now, years later, they meet again. But this time, they’re both burdened with family difficulties, specifically, penniless households depending on the two to save them, so they strike a deal. Briggs will help Blythe secure investors for her progressive apiary business and Blythe will help Briggs woo an aloof heiress with a sizable dowry. What could go wrong?
I think we all have different definitions of things going wrong, but falling for the last person you’re supposed to…that might just make the cut, right?
⤷ My Review:
This book was so fun and entertaining to read! The banter and witty insults between Briggs and Blythe were just perfect! I loved their slow progression from enemies to allies to lovers. The added he falls first trope made it even better! Briggs protectiveness of Blythe was very sweet, albeit a little amusing, as was how hard he fell for her :D.
My only complaint was that the book near the end, or before the conflict was wrapped up, did get quite dramatic. Sabrina, the heiress, had a rather startling change throughout the book, and I don’t think her backstory made up for it enough. However, I loved the Briggs and Blythe happy ending!
⤷ Final Thoughts:
🍎🍎🍎🍎 .5 / 5
Overall, an enjoyable and engaging YA historical romance that’s as fun and witty as the title hints!
I recieved an eARC of this book thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing. All thoughts and reviews are my own.
