“Is it a quote? Or a Henry Chen original?”

If you’re looking for some light-hearted fun, plenty of humor, and rom-com vibes, K.L. Walther’s books don’t disappoint.

⤷ Synopsis:

We’re a Bad Idea, Right? follows Audrey Barbour as she tries to navigate a future where she can pursue her passion: glassblowing, despite her parents’ reservations. There are two steps to doing so:

  1. Agree to her best friend and business partner Henry’s fake-dating scheme
  2. Rent out her family’s mansion in Connecticut to pay for the glassblowing fellowship she wants to pursue

It may be high-risk, high-reward (and as always, nothing goes completely right), but maybe along the way Audrey will figure out what she wants for her future and where her love and passions fit in.

⤷ Review:

After being in a book slump for a little while, We’re a Bad Idea, Right? was exactly what I needed and a lot of fun to read! Glassblowing is such a unique hobby and the plot made the read very entertaining. However, one of my biggest challenges with this book was that it just wasn’t relatable. It felt very unrealistic, more so than your traditional rom-com, and it was hard to feel connected to the characters or the story.

While the friends-to-lovers romance was cute, I wanted a little more from it. Between Audrey’s glassblowing and her scheme to rent out her mansion to pay for the fellowship, the romance felt a touch overshadowed by everything else happening.

Despite that, this book was enjoyable to read!

⤷ Final Thoughts:

🏠🏠🏠/ 5

If you’re looking for a summer read, We’re a Bad Idea, Right? is a solid choice. I would also recommend K.L. Walther’s other books, especially The Summer of Broken Rules, which I personally felt had more witty humor and summer vibes.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. All thoughts are my own.
